ethan stories.
The day that I went to Balboa Park, Ethan was trying to play with this one kid. He had to be around Ethan’s age. The kid didn’t want Ethan playing with him and started being mean to him, even yelled at him. The dad was looking on, NOT doing anything. So what did Ethan do? Throw sand at him.
As a mother, of course I told him it was bad, he shouldn’t have done it and made him apologize, but deep down inside I was smiling because it just lets me know that Ethan doesn’t take shit from anyone. He doesn’t cry, he doesn’t run to mommy or daddy, he just goes about his business (usually, that kid really pissed him off I guess). And to that dad, good luck in the future. The mindset, “they’re just kids” doesn’t apply to everything that a child does.
Ethan is a really sweet kid though, here’s another story:
At UTC, there were these two little girls in the playground we were at. Both of them had snacks and Ethan gestured that he wanted some of what they had. The older of the two girls politely said “no, they’re mine, sorry”. So I called over Ethan to hand him his snack. He opened up the ziploc bag of cereal and the first thing he does is offer his snack to the two girls, who eventually shared their snacks with him.
The other night (Sorry, you’ll understand when you’re a parent :P), Ethan would not fall asleep. He really didn’t want to be alone that night, so I laid next to him and waited for him to fall asleep. He noticed that I didn’t have a blanket over me, so he reached over, grabbed another blanket, and pulled it over me. Then patted me on the shoulder and fell asleep.
I might be bragging about my little one, but you would be too when you have your own. I can’t wait for your stories :)
